Center Mission

The Center is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment, as well as a friendly place for participants to recreate, socialize with others, find intellectual stimulation and helpful services.

Participant Responsibilities

All who attend are expected to behave in a mature and responsible manner and respect the rights and dignity of others.  Participants are expected to arrive with the intent of enjoyment of Center activities and promotion of congeniality, fellowship, and harmony with other participants.

Procedural Requirement

Complaints should be addressed privately with either the Executive Director or, in her/his absence, to the Assistant Director.  This precludes public criticisms of or confrontations with the Executive Director, Assistant Director, or other participants.

Prohibited actions include but are not limited to:

  • Lack of personal hygiene
  • Inability to function independently (acceptable if caregiver is present).
  • Angry or vulgar language, swearing, name-calling, or shouting.
  • Conduct of an inappropriate, threatening, or offensive nature.
  • Physical contact with another in an angry or threatening way.
  • Attacking a person’s religion, race, or creed.
  • Any demonstration of sexual activity or sexual contact with another person.
  • Harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or any menacing behavior.

  • Theft or behavior that results in destruction of property.
  • Carrying or concealing any weapons, devices, or objects that may be used as weapons.
  • No illegal drug, alcoholic beverage, or other intoxicant shall be consumed nor brought onto the premises. Any person, whether they smell of alcohol or not, that is suspected by the event manager of being intoxicated will be politely and discreetly asked to depart the premises.  If the person fails to do so immediately, law enforcement will be summoned to make a judgment as to whether the person is publicly intoxicated.  If law enforcement does not arrest the person, the event manager will apologize to the person and allow them to stay unless they are unruly or disruptive.
  • Smoking in the Center or in areas outside the building within fifty feet of an entrance to the Center
  • Persons convicted of criminal sexual conduct are prohibited from attending events at this Center.

Violations should be reported to the Executive Director.  If the Director is unable to resolve the issue, the matter will be referred to the Grievance Committee for investigation and recommendation to the Board of Directors.  Depending on the nature and severity of the offense, the party may be instructed to refrain from entering upon the property of the Center until the Board of Directors comes to a decision regarding the incident.  Extended or permanent suspension or termination of Center membership and participation may result from a determination by the Board.  If an individual, returns to the Center in violation of suspension, police may be called.  Parties will be notified by certified mail, if mailing address is available, regarding the decision of the Board of Directors.
